Please select DRY or DAMP Installation Location when ordering.
Damp rating refers to moist locations with no direct exposure to water nor submerged in water. When a light is marked as suitable for a damp environment, it can be installed in areas like bathroom vanity area, basements, under a covered porch/covered deck.Â
Why do this? -A wire may be a bare conductor (as in the case of a bare copper grounding wire) or it may be insulated with a continuous layer of nonconductive material, usually made of a special vinyl or nylon plastic. In most cases, it is the type of insulation used around the metal wire that makes a conductor suitable for dry or damp applications.
While any wire that is approved for Damp location can also be used in dry locations, whereas fixtures wired for dry locations are not approved to be installed in damp locations.
Finish Disclaimer:
Aluminum fixtures are not designed to last for a long period of time outdoors without necessary maintenance. Over time, the aluminum will oxidize and the paint will fade quite a bit. Aluminum doesnât hold up well around salty air, sea air and will corrode over time and is not recommended for close to the beach/coastal applications.Â
Brass is a hard metal that holds up well in all environments and is made from a combination of copper and zinc. Brass fixtures will last for many years and will require less maintenance.
The maximum wattage for a bulb for either lamp is 25 watts. You can use an LED light bulb at 60 watts, which stays cooler in temperature. If you go higher than 25 watts in the sconces after being LED wired, the bulbs burn out too quickly and the glass globe gets quite warm.
